Ahhh Refreshing!

It's amazing how you forget how GOOD it feels to work out and eat healthy when you don't do it for a while! I'm juicing, primarily, but also allowing myself to EAT raw fruits and veggies - just to curb the temptation to snack on junk all day :) Right now I am snacking on a honeycrisp apple (yum!) and waiting for my tea to cool enough to drink it (it's a stress relief yogi tea. first time trying it... ).

I went to the Y last night, realized I felt like I was back at square one when I felt like quitting after 10 minutes of cardio, was very very disappointed in myself, and then went back this morning and pushed harder! Last night I did 20 minutes of cardio on a Precor i100 AMT machine... It's sorta like an elliptical but I think it gives you more of a running feel. I went this morning and did the same machine for 30 minutes... And then about half way through the day I said to myself, "I can do that again, no problem!" so I went back this evening and threw on another 30 minutes! Sure felt great! I'll be back to my one hour workouts in no time, right?

Just take this as a friendly reminder: Don't let yourself quit working out for too long or when you go back you will be super sad that you lost all the stamina you worked so hard to build up!

Forgot to keep you all updated here!

Hello!
So, using juice as a meal replacement for breakfast and most lunches, I managed to lose about 35lbs between July and mid-September! When school started in late September, I got a bit bogged and was running to the book store to buy junk food all the time, so I am starting a new reboot to get back on track!

No worries, I haven't gained back all the weight, but I am definitely a few lbs up, and I hadn't even lost all the weight I was wanting to lose in the first place, so here we go again - time to get my diet back in order and back out of the processed foods and candy bars in the book store!

Oh, and my oh my, no more of those high sugar, high calorie, delicious blended coffees that make me wired and somewhat sick anyway... I'll start getting my energy from my juice again, thanks!

If anyone else is rebooting, let me know! :) Oh, here's the last full body picture I took!

Day 7

A week down, not completely fasting. I juice breakfast and lunch and eat a small sensible and healthy dinner.

I've been in the process of trying to go to as much organic, natural, and just healthy food as possible. I've been cooking meals at home, not eating out. Haven't had soda in about ... 3 weeks? I think. Feeling pretty good!

If I remember right, and sometimes I don't by the end of the day, I think I was around 184.8 this morning. I think this might be the lowest since I had the babies almost a year ago.

I went to a bbq yesterday for a friend's kid's birthday, and that was a huge moment of weakness for me. I had told myself I would snack on fruit and maybe have ONE burger, nothing else. I ate a LOT of fruit, some chips, and 2 burgers. They were super delicious, and I caved. But today I was right on track as my usual, juicing this morning and afternoon. For dinner we had all natural free range steak (proper sized portion, hard as that was!), organic mac&cheese, and corn on the cob. It's all a process and we are by no means completely organic, natural, or free of processed foods. We probably never will be, but we have changed a LOT in our eating habits. I have lost 11 or 12 lbs and Ben has lost around 8, so though it's no miraculous 30lbs in 2 weeks, we both feel much better and know we're eating much better for ourselves :)

How's everyone else doing? My favorite juice today was:

Watermelon, cucumber, and lime juice.

Day 1 (Part Deux)

I made it 5 days and 9 lbs on my juice fast, and then my birthday weekend hit. It threw my whole diet off kilter! It was too early in the game to be able to turn down birthday cake and also too early in the game for the birthday cake to not have an effect on my recent success.

Okay, so it wasn't just the cake, but also my bday bbq steak (I love my husband and his bbq steak!) and the bbq at mom's house, and the cupcakes leftover from the youth theatre camp... Oh, and the fact that I had already blew the weekend and went for T-Bell and Quizno's!

ALAS, I did some shopping last night and got back on track today! If I remember right (and it hardly counts, because aunt flo came to visit) I weighed in around 191 this morning. I'm not sure I dare weigh until my good visitor leaves... But if I do, I will keep you posted!

One of my favorite juices, for those looking for recipes, is the one I am having THIS MOMENT!

I make enough for 3 -4 glasses, so if you don't want leftovers or aren't sharing you might downsize on the ingredients. I used:
About 1lb of strawberries (maybe a few extra)
4 oranges
about 2/3 of a pineapple
2 stalks of celery (you can use more, but I don't care for the flavor)

Tah-dah!

Day 2

Yesterday I started a juice fast, inspired by the film "Sick, Fat, and Nearly Dead." The movie is of a man from Australia telling his story in incredible weight-loss and newfound health. He was in really bad shape, and by the end of the film not only had he achieved so much himself, but he also touched others' lives by telling his story and spreading his secret: Juicing raw fruits and veggies for every meal.

My husband and I decided to embark on the journey. Today is day two for us both, and we've gone at least 36 hours with no solid food at this point. I will start sharing my favorite recipes as well as my progress.

So far at day two, I am feeling pretty good! I would love to have other juice fasters sharing their experiences with me, and would love to follow your blogs if you are tracking your progress in health!

Starting weight: 195.6 lbs
Today's weight: 190.4 lbs
Total weight lost: 5.1 lbs
